Carlos Parlos (cp49) Definitely a "top 5" album of 2022 for me. A reminder that subgenres of metal I don't dip into as often warrant my attention. Melodic, abrasive, propulsive, engaging. Riffs and hooks and righteous anger. I love this one A LOT. Favorite track: They Fear Us.
SN⸸h
SN⸸h thumbnail
SN⸸h One of the most solid albums to come out this year so far. It's just raw and you can tell a lot of emotion was put into it. "Hold, Be Held" is my favourite track but couldn't select it. Favorite track: Fluorescent.
Kev

Kev All-around great hardcore album. Djamila Boden Azzouz's screaming is unique which compliments the atmosphere of their heavy riffs just right. The track "They Fear Us" is a powerful banger with catchy hooks-that are sure to satisfy the mature metal listener. They balance their heaviness with more melodic tracks involving more singing than screaming with "Flourescent" which shows Ithaca's strong ability to craft songs of various shades of heaviness. The album "They Fear Us" is highly recommended. Favorite track: They Fear Us.

Scott Bamford Perfection, not one wasted second in this album that builds, developes and grows on each track. Outstanding, Bow to your new masters.

pestorosso Fingers crossed the title track is representative. - and it def. is - Fantastic band. Guitar parts are sick. Candidate album of the year. Favorite track: They Fear Us.

azure806 So urgent, so forceful, so powerful, so subtly uncomfortable. I pre-ordered the album on the strength of the title track, I’ve never pre-ordered an album in my life before. Not even from my ‘’favourite’ bands. Easily, easily the best, most impactful album I have heard in ten years. The musicianship and vocals are flabbergasting. I wonder if they even know HOW good this album is. Thank you Ithaca, you’ve won the decade. Favorite track: They Fear Us.

In The Way 03:22
It’s not a job it’s a service And i get paid in satisfaction It’s not desire it’s purpose Feeding off the chain reaction I take your calls in the bathroom So that no one can hear And wash your blood down the sink Cause we don’t keep souvenirs Don’t say you can take it Don’t think i won’t break it Don’t try to hide your shaking Don’t you know i know you’re faking Here it goes Aspiration holds Obturate, unfold Inclination codes Here it goes Don’t look so scared (This is a gift) Don’t look so bereft (That’s what you said) Here it goes Watching, waiting in that fashion There’s no place here for compassion Aching for that interaction Negative space, neutral passion How could you know this would happen Blood for blood in the transaction Predilection for abstraction Blood blood blood blood blood extraction Bought tickets for the attraction Tallying up your infractions Drip a drop here it’s your ration Expiration, final caption Here it goes

Don’t look in the mirror They’re all broken (Tell me how it feels to want to stay) I’ve got a theory That remains unspoken (Tell me how it feels to still hold sway) I can’t stop I’ve got a theory It remains untold I’ve got milk in my veins I speak the language of the gods Your future self says thank you It’s so hard to play the game When leaving is so easy The ending is the same I can’t stop I put poison in your birthday cake Far more evil than even i could make Give me someone new that i can hate Sick of watching myself age Nothing stays the same Every day marks a change Every first is a last in place No one will remember your face I’ve got a theory It remains untold The secret combination is inset in solid gold The worst reflection isn’t what You think you see You look so pretty staring back at me I’ve got a theory It remains untold The secret combination is Only learned when you get old It’s choking on diamond And vomiting gold So glad we left so early

They Fear Us 04:10
It feels like lightyears away If feels like decades You think you’ve made your escape But we’re catching up again Watching you make your mistakes Exaltation pure Don’t quote the debt that you’ve paid Cause we’re catching up again I held my breath on the way down Your tangled hair became my gown I’ll never tell you what i found Now look who’s finally got the crown You think we’re lightyears away You think we’re decades We’ve waited aeons to say That we’re catching up again So sweet to know that you’re prey And it’s a blessing Bathe in the mess that you made Cause we’re catching up again Bow to your blood Your queen and Your god Bow to the end of Everything you love You think we’re lightyears away You think we’re decades You think you’ve made your escape But we’re catching up again Stop praying to god I’m not listening Bow before your blood Bow to your blood Your queen and Your god Bow to the end of Everything you love It feels like lightyears away If feels like decades You think you’ve made your escape But we’re catching up again Stop praying to god I’m not listening

Just let the light pass through I’ve got time to kill I’ll let you choose the speed I’ll pick the reel Don’t move just stay right there Accept the curse Let me devour you Because the camera always eats first It’s what you do when you think No one is watching It’s what you say when you think No one is there It’s the way that you’re shifting Inside your skin Peel it off and show me What’s left within Rip it off and show me Just where you’ve been Tear it off and show me Show me how you win Who does the light pour out forever To hit rewind back to the dissever Click the switch Lock the strap Pull me in Close the gap Push the lever Drop the match Fan the flames Break the latch Turn the dial Close your eyes You press play I’ll baptise Tip the candle Knot the rope Heart your cross And die to hope It’s what you do when you think No one is watching It’s what you say when you think No one is there Who does the light pour out forever Who does the light pour out Who do the shadows follow Who do we die without Our dark tomorrow Who does the screen burn for Who do the i always sing Who is the end of all Of everything

It’s in concentration I can’t control myself Maybe it’s desperation It’s all in the reaction You make my hold my breath When i need a distraction We’re more than just a fixation It chokes just how you like The ash in your foundations I need to feel the sensation Burning each fingerprint There’s nothing like a cremation party I’m so proud of you The gaps between Where the nails catch Treading the flesh Caught in the act Malice outlasts So here’s to the past It’s in concentration I can’t control myself Maybe it’s desperation It’s all in the reaction Burning each fingerprint There’s nothing like a cremation party

Number Five 02:47
This family is as good as dead And your exactly where we want you Ignore the blades in your bed They only cut you where you want to Your empty laugh An epitaph A photograph A parasite We sit and tables and don’t speak In front of meals we never fucking eat Bloated from swallowing words And push the leftovers inside the seat When did i have to start begging For a single scrap of sentiment Let’s automate the embedding Til it becomes an impediment When did i have to start begging To return my devotion Why would i stab you in the back When you’ve got so many faces to choose from Your empty laugh An epitaph that’s written on A photograph A parasite born backwards on The second Sunday And then refused to die again Maybe one day I’ll force you back down the drain

Fluorescent 03:40
Step down from the missing stair And sit up in the empty chair An illusion of influence Painted on the ceiling It’s not like you were ever there Sick hearts for a healthy prayer Could it be so obvious It’s so unappealing Up to the waiting room I know we never had time To say goodbye The flowers never bloom When it’\s the vase that decides We’re inside And now it’s closing in Take the lift to the basement Where they call it enslavement Don’t tell me to be patient Always looking for something Why can’t it just be one thing Nothing more than an upswing I’m swinging up Hide the note in the corner Maybe it’ll be warmer When the sun comes i’ll warn her Thirty days til eleven I never learned my lesson And i’ll see you fluorescent A trial inside the tomb All for the turn of the tides We’re inside The flowers never bloom When it’\s the vase that decides We’re inside Up to the waiting room I know we never had
8.
A promise made A neck to break I had your fingers Locked into mine Look how the moon shines Like a weeping sore We’ve got a problem It’s you this time You should have gone back Now there’s no time for that You never learned peace But i know who i am We’ve got a problem We’ve got a problem We’ve got a problem Go now Go slow Gone back To the glow
9.
Don’t try to hide your shaking Don’t look so scared There is compassion here I find the peace i never learned This gift is what I have feared There it goes With nothing to oppose No one has to know Where we had to go There it goes When will i heal?
